Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Requirements

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program requires RPA® and FMA® graduates:

•To acquire 18 points of continuing education credit every three years in order to maintain active status of their designation

•Three-year renewal period begins on the date that graduates attain their first BOMI designation

•Graduates who hold more than one designation are required to earn 18 CPD points every three years

•Graduates will be responsible for payment of the annual $60.00 (in Canada $70 + GST/HST) CPD Administrative fee.
 Points may be earned by:(verification of completion must be included)

1) Completing courses or seminars (One point per hour of instruction). Courses/seminars do not have to be taken through an approved provider as long as it meets the approved content listed below.

2) Serve as a board or committee member for one or more organizations related to the building or facilities industry (Six points per year, per position)

3) Hold an active real estate license (Eighteen points, except New Jersey)

4) Maintain active membership in an industry association related to the building or facilities industry (Two points per year, per membership)

5) Professional Accomplishments (Two CPD points will be awarded for every writing, presentation, and/or research hour needed to complete any of the projects listed below)

a) Publish an original article or research paper in a national journal

b) Winning a Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA) International and/or Local Building Award

c) Participate as a presenter at a regional, national, or International conference on commercial property or related topic

d) Serve as an instructor for any qualifying program

e) Serve as an author/reviewer or member of an examination development workshop for any qualifying program

f) Develop a Disaster Recovery Plan

We are unable to accept partial points. Please submit your point requirement once you have acquired the entire 18 points.

Forms received without required documentation will be returned.
