Sustainability Committee

The Sustainability Committee meets to discuss pressing sustainability and efficiency issues impacting commercial buildings. Topics may include rebate opportunities, building an internal ESG team, green leasing, and BOMA International’s Carbon Reduction Initiative.  

 Throughout the year, the committee engages in dialogue with the city and county on carbon reduction policy and often hears tailored presentations/discussions on best practices in building operations and management to ensure a sustainable future.

Staff Liaison: Policy and Communications Manager

Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly meetings and actively participate in conversation and Q&A. 
  • Recruit guest speakers from your network to speak on issues impacting building sustainability. Topics have included: 
    • Building decarbonization 
    • Energy benchmarking 
    • Waste reduction 
    • Utility rebates 
  • Identify issues for the committee to address at future meetings or member briefings. 
  • Provide guest entries to BOMA/GLA’s blog BOMA on the Frontline (optional).
  • Support the planning and execution of one in-person education seminar.

Meeting Schedule

Fourth Tuesday of each month, 8am-9am, on Zoom. 

Time Committment

Members are expected to devote one hour per month for committee meetings and 30-60 minutes for research, speaker recruitment, issue analysis, and/or blog writing. 

Number of Committee Members:

This committee consists of fifteen (15) members.
