BOMA/GLA HOSTS HOMELESS FORUM IN HOLLYWOOD

On Thursday April 6th, the BOMA/GLA Homeless and Community Awareness Committee hosted a forum in Hollywood to discuss the current homeless crisis and ways for businesses to volunteer and donate in a positive way.

The HCAC will be hosting a series of these events across Los Angeles County with the next one in Downtown Los Angeles. The committee is also working to develop a hiring program between our associate members and the nonprofit organization partners. HCAC - VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN SANTA MONICA

The BOMA/GLA Homeless and Community Awareness Committee will be organizing volunteer projects and offering donation opportunities in partnership with the City of Santa Monica over the next few months. After a meeting with the Santa Monica City Manager, BOMA/GLA has committed to work with the the Human Services Department and the Santa Monica Chamber to identify ways for property managers and tenants to make a positive change.

The BOMA/GLA Homeless and Community Awareness Committee will be developing a series of volunteer opportunities for Downtown Los Angeles property managers as well as in our other six regions.

LAST MINUTE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - WELCOME HOME PROJECT

BOMA Greater Los Angeles will soon be announcing a series of volunteer opportunities for property managers, service provider companies and building tenants. Before we announce some of these projects, the City of Los Angeles has asked us to pass along the request for volunteers for this weekend's Welcome Home Project. 

HOMELESS AND COMMUNITY AWARENESS COMMITTEE SETS FIRST YEAR ACTION PLAN

BOMA/GLA has formed a new standing committee with the purpose of "promoting the interests of commercial real estate while creating greater understanding of issues surrounding homelessness."  The committee's goals and action items are listed here

BOMA/GLA SHARES POLICY INITIATIVES WITH THE MAYOR'S NEW HOMELESS POLICY DIRECTOR

With homelessness increasing region-wide, Mayor Eric Garcetti went on the offensive recently by appointing Alisa Orduna to the new position of Homelessness Policy Director. BOMA/GLA Chairman Brian Plymell and Martha Cox-Nitikman met with Ms. Orduna recently, sharing some of our successes and learning of her priorities for the city.  

BOMA/GLA MEMBERS VOLUNTEER FOR LA'S WELCOME HOME PROJECT

 
 
On Friday June 17th and Saturday June 18th, volunteers across the City of Los Angeles participated in Mayor Eric Garcetti's Welcome Home Project. Gift baskets, prepared at neighborhood parties in Angeleno homes and businesses, were delivered to newly housed, former homeless individuals.
