BUILDING SKILLS PARTNERSHIP STARTS ANOTHER YEAR OF SERVICE TO BUILDING SERVICE WORKERS

BOMA/GLA is a founding member of the Building Skills Partnership, an organization bringing together the SEIU-USWW and commercial real estate owners to foster workplace training for thousands of janitors around the state. Started over 10 years ago in Los Angeles by a handful of owners, the program now attracts hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants each year to train janitors for the new workplace. The recently-developed Green Janitor program adds value to building operations.

BUILDING SKILLS PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM CONTINUES TO PROVIDE IMPORTANT TRAINING TO JANITORS

The Building Skills Partnership program uses seed money from the janitorial contract plus private grants to train building service workers throughout LA County.  The program started with ESL classes, but over the last 10 years expanded to include financial and computer literacy, health, assisting janitors with understanding the college application process, and most recently, green janitor training.
