BOMA International testified earlier this month on the importance of making permanent and modernizing the Energy Efficient Commercial Building Tax Deduction, commonly referred to as 179D. PORTFOLIO MANAGER PROGRAM NOW TRACKS WASTE

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has added a new feature to the ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager, which allows building managers to track and benchmark building waste. Property professionals already use Portfolio Manager’s energy and water benchmarking tools to cut operating costs, and this new feature has the potential to make another significant impact on the industry and environment. The tool benchmarks 29 types of waste, including building materials, glass, paper, plastics and trash.
