DTLA REGIONAL COUNCIL HOSTS GOVERNMENT CONNECT

The BOMA/GLA Downtwon Regional Council put on a great Government Connect event yesterday at 915 Wilshire. Thanks to huge BOMA/GLA supporter HARBRO for sponsoring breakfast at the event and to Lincoln Property Company for hosting.

Over 20 Downtown property managers came to the event, which was open to BOMA/GLA members and non-members alike. In attendance were representatives from LAPD, LAFD, LADBS, LADWP, NASA Services, the South Park BID, and the Downtown Women's Center.

L.A. DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND SAFETY EXECUTIVES RECOGNIZED BY CAL BUILDING OFFICIALS

BOMA/GLA congratulates L.A. Building and Safety General Manager Frank Bush for receiving the 2017-18 Building Official of the Year award from the California Building Officials (CALBO) organization. Frank has worked closely with BOMA/GLA over the years, including on crafting of the Seismic Retrofit ordinance. He deserves this prestigious award for promoting building safety in LA by working collaboratively with building owners, developers and the construction industry. 

City of L.A. May Extend Energy and Water Efficiency Ordinance Deadline

The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) has put forward a recommendation to the Los Angeles City Council to extend the initial benchmarking deadline to November 1, 2017, providing additional time for building owners to comply with the ordinance.

CITY OF L.A. HOLDS BRIEFING ON PROGRESS OF PERMIT STREAMLINING EFFORTS

BOMA/GLA was invited by L.A. Deputy Mayor Ray Chan to attend a status update on improvements to the development process over the last 4 years. Representing BOMA/GLA were Codes Committee Co-Chair Althea DePietro and BOMA/GLA VP Martha Cox-Nitikman. While progress in the Building Department’s processes are well known, other departments provided additional details on short cuts and new service offerings, including the LADWP.

DOWNTOWN MANAGERS CONNECT WITH GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

On Thursday October 20th - BOMA/GLA building members connected with city officials from major Los Angeles city departments at 400 S Hope Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The Downtown Regional Council hosted this event for all property managers in the area (both members and non-members).
