BOMA/GLA MEETS WITH LONG BEACH MAYOR ROBERT GARCIA

BOMA/GLA PAC leadership had a great meeting with Mayor Robert Garcia today at Catalina Landing in Long Beach. The BOMA/GLA PAC supported the Mayor in his first bid for election 4 years ago and remain enthusiastic supporters of his candidacy. 

VILLARAIGOSA INCHES CLOSER TO NEWSOM

According to the latest Public Policy Institute of California poll, Antonio Villaraigosa is inching closer to frontrunner Gavin Newsom in the race to be the next Governor of California. The poll, released last week, has Newsom at 23% and Villariagosa at 21%. CA State Treasurer and fellow Democrat John Chiang trails them both at 9%. 

Newsom has led the race the entire time and although most of the other polls released so far do not have Mayor Villaraigosa as close as this poll does, it certainly shows that his message is gaining traction.

BOMA/GLA LEADERSHIP MEETS MAYOR ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA

BOMA/GLA board members and BOMA/GLA PAC board members were excited to meet with former Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa today at their second leadership lunch with a 2018 gubernatorial candidate. The meeting was hosted by BOMA/GLA members Hines and OUE at the Owner's Conference Room at US Bank Tower in Downtown Los Angeles. The lunch was catered by Homeboy Industries, a non-profit that helps formerly gang-involved men and women redirect their lives.

LAPD COMMANDER TODD CHAMBERLAIN TALKS WITH BOMA/GLA SECURITY COMMITTEE ON DOWNTOWN DEMONSTRATIONS

The BOMA/GLA Security and Emergency Preparedness Committee met with LAPD Commander Todd Chamberlain (in photo above) and learned that LAPD has modified their tactics in the last few years to better manage the increased number of protests in Downtown LA.

BOMA/GLA BUILDINGS SHOW STRONG SUPPORT FOR WORLD EARTH HOUR

Earth Hour 2017 was held last March 25th, and buildings around L.A. dimmed lights in support of energy conservation and sustainable practices. BOMA member buildings with over 26 million square feet of space worked collaboratively with tenants to turn down non-essential lights both inside and out.

Twenty-eight BOMA member buildings participated this year, the same number as in 2016. BOMA/GLA would like to thank all the managers for working to make this a special evening. A list of participants is listed below:  

BOMA/GLA STAFF MEET WITH LA MAYOR GARCETTI

BOMA/GLA advocate Mitchell Vieyra met with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti as a BizFed PAC Board meeting on Friday February 17th at 400 S Hope St. Vieyra serves as a voting member of the BizFed PAC, connecting BOMA/GLA interests with the larger business community. 

DOWNTOWN MANAGERS CONNECT WITH GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

On Thursday October 20th - BOMA/GLA building members connected with city officials from major Los Angeles city departments at 400 S Hope Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The Downtown Regional Council hosted this event for all property managers in the area (both members and non-members).

BOMA/GLA PAC CONTRIBUTES TO LB MAYOR GARCIA

On Monday September 26th, BOMA/GLA staff attended a fundraiser supporting Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia. Since being elected, Mayor Garcia has been an ally to the Los Angeles County business community. BOMA Greater Los Angeles continuosly works to engage with elected officials in all of our regions 

BOMA/GLA SHARES POLICY INITIATIVES WITH THE MAYOR'S NEW HOMELESS POLICY DIRECTOR

With homelessness increasing region-wide, Mayor Eric Garcetti went on the offensive recently by appointing Alisa Orduna to the new position of Homelessness Policy Director. BOMA/GLA Chairman Brian Plymell and Martha Cox-Nitikman met with Ms. Orduna recently, sharing some of our successes and learning of her priorities for the city.
