UPDATE ON SEISMIC RETROFIT BILL AB 2681

BOMA/GLA has been actively involved in monitoring and shaping seismic legislation that would seriously impact commercial buildings in California. AB 2681 (Nazarian) as originally written mandated that cities develop a list of “potentially vulnerable buildings” based on certain age and construction criteria. The list would be posted on a public website, and owners would be required to perform a seismic audit and report the findings to the city.

AB 1745 (Ting D) Vehicles: Clean Cars 2040 Act – BANS INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES STARTING IN 12 YEARS.

BOMA/GLA MEMBERS AND STAFF ADVOCATE AT THE CAPITOL

BOMA/GLA members and staff spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Sacramento lobbying State legislators on the important issues (split roll, ADA reform, parcel tax notification) facing the commercial real estate industry this session. 

BOMA/GLA BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVES SLATE OF STATE LEGISLATION AT RECENT BOARD MEETING

As BOMA/GLA continues to expand its policy involvement at all levels of government, the Board of Directors approved positions on 27 Senate and Assembly bills making their way through the legislative process. This is the first time an entire slate of bills has been reviewed and voted upon. The timing of the vote was excellent, as our state advocate Matthew Haragrove was present to provide commentary on the major issues under discussion this session.

O'DONNELL RE-ELECTED TO STATE ASSEMBLY

Patrick O'Donnell, a BOMA/GLA PAC endorsed candidate and current incumbent was re-elected to the 70th Assembly District in the November general election. BOMA/GLA PAC supports a number of state and local candidates that have proven to be pro-business and willing to work with the commercial real estate industry.

BOMA/GLA TAKES OVER SACRAMENTO

 
BOMA Greater Los Angeles headed to Sacramento along with fellow BOMA California chapters and other real estate organizations. The California Business Properties Association (CBPA) hosts this annual conference followed by a morning of meetings with our elected officials.
