COUNCILMAN RYU'S OFFICE ATTENDS SAN FERNANDO VALLEY REGIONAL COUNCIL MEETING

At this week's San Fernando Valley Q4 Regional Council Meeting, BOMA/GLA members heard from Nikki Ezhari, Councilman Ryu's District Director who covers the Sherman Oaks portion of the San Fernando Valley. Nikki was able to give BOMA/GLA members some great insights into waste hauling, homelessness, and the plans for allocating Measure M funds in the Valley.

MEMBERS MEET WITH ASSEMBLY MEMBER BOCANEGRA

The BOMA/GLA PAC Leadership and the Government Affairs Committee met with Assembly Member Raul Bocanegra on Friday to discuss his priorities for the coming legislative session. The meeting took place at the BOMA/GLA offices in Downtown Los Angeles, where PAC Chair Phil Tate (Kilroy Realty) led discussions on energy and water efficiency efforts at teh local and state levels along with a look at the homeless crisis and affordable housing.

BOMA/GLA TO HOLD INFORMATIONAL MEETING ON SIDEWALK REPAIR PROGRAM

Earlier this year, the Los Angeles City Council voted and passed a sidewalk repair ordinance that would have the city responsible for all necessary sidewalk repairs no matter the type of property followed by a release of responsibility to the owner. 

BOMA/GLA WORKPLACE VIOLENCE TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS WHAT MANAGERS NEED TO KNOW

The Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments briefed a group of Valley managers and tenants on how to prepare for an active shooter and what to expect from first responders.  
 
Sgt. Michael Sequin, in the photo above, center, began the presentation by stressing that there are almost always warning signs prior to a violent incident. Information about an individual’s changed behavior is often not passed on by the tenant to the building management. Excellent communication is the key to preventing workplace violence.

The BOMA/GLA PAC supports Assembly Candidate and former Assembly Member Raul Bocanegra for the upcoming June 7, 2016 primary. The former Assembly Member has been a strong supporter of the business community and the commercial real estate industry. BOMA/GLA encourages its members to vote in all upcoming elections. 

BOMA/GLA'S FIRST SOCIAL CONNECT HELD IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY

BOMA/GLA's Regional Councils will be hosting a series of Social Connects for the first time this year. These are opportunities for property managers to connect with one another in their local areas and they are open to both members and non-members.

BOMA/GLA PAC endorsed candidates in seven state races in yesterday's primary election. In 6 of the 7 races, BOMA/GLA PAC will have candidates moving on to this November's general election.
