STREET VENDING UPDATE

This week, the LA City Council requested the City Attorney to draft a sidewalk vending ordinance that DID NOT include the property owner veto provision that BOMA/GLA and many other business organizations were advocating for.

Property owners should have just as much right in who sells what on their sidewalks as they do for those who pay rent in their properties. Unfortunately, a majority of the Council disagreed and instead asked the City Attorney to draft an ordinance that includes only an appeals process for surrounding property owners.

BOMA/GLA TO HOLD INFORMATIONAL MEETING ON SIDEWALK REPAIR PROGRAM

Earlier this year, the Los Angeles City Council voted and passed a sidewalk repair ordinance that would have the city responsible for all necessary sidewalk repairs no matter the type of property followed by a release of responsibility to the owner.
