ATHENS SERVICES ANSWERS MEMBERS' QUESTIONS

BOMA/GLA members had the chance to hear from Athens Services at the Westside Regional Breakfast in June. Westside BOMA members experienced a bumpy rollout but since then Athens services has been very responsive to BOMA/GLA advocacy staff and has shown a real commitment to taking care of BOMA/GLA members.

Yesterday, the Los Angeles City Council Committee on Energy, Climate Change, and Environmental Justice had LA Sanitation in to report on the many issues that property owners are having with recycLA, LA's new waste hauling franchise system. 

City of LA Trash Franchise: Compensated Recycling and Demolition Debris

With the roll-out of the Los Angeles trash franchise there are still many questions about haulers, contracts, and pricing. While trying to figure out if you are going to have to pay an “Access charge” for the hauler to push a button, on a remote that you provide, to access your trash area or wondering if you will have to pay a distance fee for the hauler to bring your bins to the street, there is a lot of uncertainty.

TOWN HALL FORUMS HELD TO ADDRESS MEMBER CONCERNS WITH CITY OF LA WASTE HAULING FRANCHISE PROGRAM

Town Hall meetings were held in Downtown and the West Side last week to provide details of the program and an opportunity for members to ask questions of Bureau of Sanitation managers and waste haulers. Over 70 members attended these events.

Our member’s questions revealed several important take-aways that owners should be aware of:

LA Sanitation gave a formal presentation and question and answer session today with BOMA/GLA members at Bank of America Plaza downtown.
