ATHENS SERVICES ANSWERS MEMBERS' QUESTIONS

BOMA/GLA members had the chance to hear from Athens Services at the Westside Regional Breakfast in June. Westside BOMA members experienced a bumpy rollout but since then Athens services has been very responsive to BOMA/GLA advocacy staff and has shown a real commitment to taking care of BOMA/GLA members. 

LA COUNCILMAN ENGLANDER PROVIDES VALLEY BUILDING OWNERS GREATER ACCESS TO WASTE FRANCHISEE

Due to many questions arising around the new waste hauling franchise in the San Fernando Valley, Councilman Mitchell Englander has asked Waste Management Inc., the contracted provider, to hold regular office hours in his Community Service Center in Chatsworth.

BOMA INTERNATIONAL LAUNCHES W2 WASTE AND WATER CHALLENGE

The W2 Water and Waste Challenge is a two-year initiative to encourage commercial real estate practitioners to benchmark water and waste consumption and associated costs, and to implement common practices to improve water performance and reduce waste.

TOWN HALL FORUMS HELD TO ADDRESS MEMBER CONCERNS WITH CITY OF LA WASTE HAULING FRANCHISE PROGRAM

Town Hall meetings were held in Downtown and the West Side last week to provide details of the program and an opportunity for members to ask questions of Bureau of Sanitation managers and waste haulers. Over 70 members attended these events.

LA SANITATION GIVES PRESENTATION ON WASTE HAULING TO BOMA/GLA MEMBERS

LA Sanitation gave a formal presentation and question and answer session today with BOMA/GLA members at Bank of America Plaza downtown. PORTFOLIO MANAGER PROGRAM NOW TRACKS WASTE

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has added a new feature to the ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager, which allows building managers to track and benchmark building waste. Property professionals already use Portfolio Manager’s energy and water benchmarking tools to cut operating costs, and this new feature has the potential to make another significant impact on the industry and environment. The tool benchmarks 29 types of waste, including building materials, glass, paper, plastics and trash.
