A Message From Our Partner, The People Concern

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, The People Concern has remained steadfast in our commitment to ending homelessness and domestic violence by providing care and support for those experiencing it, through housing and integrated services tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

We have remained on the front-lines and have expanded our services through our participation in Project Roomkey. This initiative, in partnership with the County of Los Angeles and FEMA, has placed individuals at high risk of contracting COVID-19 into hotels that would otherwise be vacant. This allows these individuals to effectively isolate and the hotels to recover income they would have lost under the Safer At Home order.

With the release of the Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count we can see that while more people experiencing homelessness we placed into housing than ever before, the total numbers still rose. Economic and social factors are continuing to drive people into homelessness faster than the current efforts to re-house them can meet, leading to a net rise in homelessness county-wide. The People Concern and our strategic partner, Flyaway Homes, are rising to meet this challenge. We believe that everyone in Los Angeles should be housed, healthy, and safe.

What’s next for Los Angeles? We know that homelessness is not an intractable issue, The People Concern is the expert in getting and keeping people housed. We look forward to working with BOMA to bring the solution to homelessness in Los Angeles to you once it is safe to meet in person again.
