With the rise of electronic building management systems, from key card access and elevators to HVAC and tenant relations portals, protecting the safety of equipment and tenant information has become an enormous challenge for commercial owners. Real estate companies have found themselves targets of hackers, who use gaps in owner and third-party contractor software systems to infiltrate and steal valuable data.

BOMA/GLA continues to educate our membership on how to inform building staff and contractors of simple yet important procedures to ensure building system security. We’ve leveraged the knowledge of some of the leading tech experts as well as collaborated with the Cybersecurity Division of Los Angeles Police Department to identify key steps in tightening cybersecurity.
